An Observation of Process

Light and Shadows

I painted sort of a dark and mysterious portrait of a friend. I’m pretty pleased with it, but the composition is a little off in my opinion. It was a good first study of a shadowy figure and I think I’ll get better at it as I continue to practice. My favorite part of this piece is the rendering of her hands. For me the key is just drawing from my favorite parts of a painting and trying to recreate them in each work that follows.

Hi Ives, thought I’d stop by and visit you, since you kindly visited me, and I’m glad I did! I love this painting–especially the hands! One day I hope to do a series of paintings of hands. Well done!

Thanks very much! Hands are fun, but frustrating lol You should definitely do a series! That would be cool
